As Mermama, the Grotto Mother, I create a space of care, wonder, and connection where all feel welcomed and inspired by the ocean’s beauty and spirituality. Through a playful spirit of kindness, excitement, and mermaid magic, I nurture joy while fostering a deeper respect for the quiet, weightless world beneath the waves.
I am dedicated to guiding youth and communities toward a love of the ocean, empowering them to become stewards of its future. With a strong focus on marine debris awareness, I advocate for cleaner waters and mindful habits, inspiring others to protect marine life by reducing waste and keeping our oceans free of trash.
By blending compassion, creativity, and conservation, I strive to turn small moments of happiness into lasting action for a healthier, more vibrant ocean.

I am Mergenta, I embody the spirit of the mermaid to inspire wonder, joy, and connection with the ocean. Through “pinkness, sparkles, and mermaid kisses,” I create moments of happiness that open hearts to the beauty and importance of marine life.
Guided by a deep passion for shark conservation, I use this sense of magic to educate, challenge misconceptions, and highlight the vital role sharks play in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems. By blending imagination with advocacy, I aim to transform curiosity into understanding and inspire others to protect and respect our oceans and the incredible creatures within them.

I am Mermaren, meaning “star of the sea.” My connection to the ocean is a cherished inheritance, first shared with me by my father, a diver. From him I carry a broken sand dollar from his first dive, a reminder of where my mermaid journey began. Today, I continue that tradition through mindful diving, honoring the ocean while staying rooted in that legacy. Above the water, the world can feel heavy at times, but beneath it I find calm. The ocean is my sanctuary, where I draw peace from its beauty and stillness. The water allows moments that reflect the quiet rhythm of marine life, inviting reflection, serenity, and awe. I strive to help others also discover peace through the tranquility of the water. Guided by stewardship, I advocate for respect over extraction, leaving life undisturbed and taking only what the ocean naturally offers. My mission is to turn curiosity into care and inspire others to protect the delicate balance of marine life, from the smallest starfish to the hidden sand dollar.

I’m Mermaid Sarah- the Salish Sea Mermaid! Before I swam over to North Carolina, I spent almost all of my underwater time on the chilly Oregon Coast, the Salish Sea, and various rivers and alpine lakes in the Pacific Northwest. Coming from somewhere that isn’t known for its optimal diving conditions has made me seek out beauty in the strange and quiet places. My background in scuba and biology has instilled in me a sense of wonder in the unexpected, because even schools of unassuming minnows can sparkle in the sunlight if you take the time to appreciate them. Coming from that deep green wilderness on the west coast has made me especially love taking a quiet moment during dives in North Carolina’s breathtakingly blue waters to look up and see the sun glittering on the surface and the columns of light dipping down into the depths. It reminds us some of the most beautiful sights aren’t always where we expect them to be. Our oceans are a precious resource; a delicate system where each member of the community is connected and contributes something meaningful to the whole. I believe it’s important to learn to see the beauty in the small, sometimes overlooked places. From the tiniest nudibranch to the giant deep sea whips; rockfish, lingcod and salmon, even seagrass and mussels- everything in our world ocean is magnificent and worth protecting. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education and emotional connection are the most important pillars of conservation and mermaiding helps bridge the gap between people and the sea around us. I can’t wait to share this beautifully strange underwater world with you! “_In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we are taught._”
