If you've always been curious about the ocean, have an interest in marine life
and ship wrecks, or would like a little adventure, then SCUBA diving is for you.
Rum Runner's instructional staff emphasize quality instruction, safety, and customer satisfaction.
We focus on safety through education. Classes are limited to 6 divers per instructor to ensure safety and personalized attention.
Our interest is your competence as a safe, skilled diver. The instructional staff is prepared to offer you the
best instruction so that you enjoy the underwater environment.
NAUI SCUBA Diver certification is the entry level certification to SCUBA diving. It
prepares you to meet and exceed the industry standards for safe diving and enjoy the privileges of all basic certified divers.
The course is divided into 3 sections: classroom, pool, and open water. A typical class day will include classroom instruction
followed by confined water (pool) instruction. Skills are learned and practiced in the pool, then demonstrated again during the open water
dives.
At the conclusion of classroom/pool training, 4 open water dives and 1 skin dive are performed. During the summer and fall, open water
dives are conducted at Fantasy Lake SCUBA Park in Rolesville, NC or Lake Rawlings near Emporia, Va. and in the Atlantic Ocean on the wreck of the
Indra. The Indra is a warship that was sunk 9 miles out from the Beaufort Inlet as a part of the North Carolina Artificial
Reef Program. The ship sits upright in about 65 feet of water and is ideal for new divers. It is a former US Navy landing craft
repair ship and was sunk on August 4, 1992. It is 320 ft. long, intact, and sits on its keel.
